The groundbreaking vision of Pinewood Forrest is coming into focus. Friday morning, the media and key community members were invited out for the first development update of the year for the 234-acre master-planned residential and mixed-use development. Paired with the 18-stage and more than 1 million sq. ft. Pinewood Atlanta Studios across the street, Pinewood Forrest will shape a new era for Fayetteville, Fayette County, and the state.

“Pinewood Atlanta Studios and the greater Pinewood community are one of the most exciting things going on in our whole nation, even the world,” said Dan Cathy, Chief Visionary for Pinewood Forrest. “We now have what has never been done before, and that is to build a live-create-play community, a companion piece, to go along with the incredibly-gifted world class storytellers that we have across the street.”

When fully completed, the Pinewood community will be the envy of the industry.

“Never before has this been done that you would have a purpose-built, industrial community to marry with an industry as unique and as special as what we have (at Pinewood Studios),” said Cathy. “We’re just blessed with an abundance of opportunity and land to be able to do what Disney and Warner Brothers and Sony would’ve loved to have done but never had the opportunity to do.”

Taking inspiration from well-known events like the Sundance Film Festival and South by Southwest, Pinewood Forrest will cater to the artistic community, but also anyone else craving something different.

“We’re making this what I call the most inclusive community ever imagined,” he said. “Everyone from the school teacher to the firefighter to Robert Downey Jr. and every strata in between, not only from an income standpoint but from an artistry standpoint from a lifestyle standpoint, every sphere of artistry will be welcomed here.”

Exciting details for the development were discussed for the first time, including a plan to make all homes geothermal and a main street design featuring multi-family rental residences.

The day culminated with a wall raising for the first home in the community. On Rank Avenue, named for the founder of Pinewood Studios, J. Arthur Rank, the wall of home number one was raised as confetti rained down and applause roared.

On Saturday morning, the first 50 homes of the eventual 1,300 residences in the development go on sale. The first batch of homes range from 1,200 sq. ft. up to estate homes and in price from $350,000 to more than $1 million. The price spectrum will vary more with further home releases.

“Pinewood Studios Atlanta has brought great economic stimulus in this community, and now Pinewood Forrest has taken its place as a critical entity to provide housing for the creatives and those that wish to experience living at its best,” said Fayetteville Mayor Ed Johnson.
