Whitewater is again carrying the flag for the county’s softball team as the long school in the playoffs, after finishing second in their region tournament. The Cats will now travel to face Heritage (Catoosa) in round two.

Game one was all Whitewater as they scored in every frame of an 8-0, five inning victory.

Sarah Middleton pitched all five innings, allowing just one hit, striking out eight, and walking two. Middleton also drove in a run.

Hannah Thomason notched two RBI, while Hannah Norton, Katelyn Perry, Angela Heimback, and Ruth Jones each added one.

Game two was every uglier for the Rams as the Wildcats offense loaded up in a 17-1, four inning win.

Maci Townsend took the mound for the Cats, pitching the four innings, while allowing three hits, one run, and striking out three.

Whitewater exploded for six runs in the first inning, then two in the second. Four runs and fives runs in the third and fourth innings sealed the deal.

Rena Jenkins, Breanna Burgett, Norton, and Perry each drove in a pair of runs. Joleigh Tye and Middleton plated one run a piece.
